Our Obese Nation and Speaking Out
by laura abbruzzese
Taken from the CDC.gov "In 2009-2010, over 78 million U.S. adults and about 12.5 million U.S. children and adolescents were obese." It is HARD to lose weight, at any age and at any weight.
I want to do all I can to help because I have read that the current young generation of children will not outlive their parents. This is outrageous! Drastic measures should be taken NOW to turn this spiral around.... and it can be accomplished We need the nation's help! Actually this is such a global issue that really we need the world's help!
This is everyone's issue - absolutely everyone!
I believe these two easy options are a darn good start:
1. Educate yourself and your children on the misleading information that is told to us by the media about our food. Food from ANY BOX IS NOT HEALTHY - or in other words, it is NOT REAL FOOD. We should not be mislead. Buy items that are REAL. In fact, try to buy only foods that do not have an ingredient list - thereby having nothing chemical or added. Yes, easier said than done!
But try.
Tell our kids how wrong the media can be and that THEY DO NOT HAVE TO BE FOOLED. Our children's (and our) best defense is to NOT BUY THEIR PRODUCTS.
2. Real Weight loss is about a change in one's lifestyle. Change in the foods you purchase, how you cook, and what you do for exercise. Start small and you will make big changes over time.
Good luck everyone ...I'm in this with you!

Exercise - even a little a day will help enormously in the fight against obesity
Coming soon = a (hopefully) inspiring idea for those needing a little help with exercise
Go Walk!

Take a pup for a walk...
by laura abbruzzese
The truth of the matter is more that we need walked as much as our dogs. If you do not have a dog, take the family to volunteer at your local shelter to walk a dog. This does some wonderful things:
1. You get exercise - walking is great exercise!
2. If you are volunteering in your community to walk a dog you are teaching your children and friends about volunteerism and giving back, not to mention how good that feels.
3. You are making a dog's day brighter.
4. You are creating quality family or alone time outdoors.
Good luck everyone...I'm in this with you!
